Miklós, Szilveszter
Szilveszter Miklós is a hungarian drummer whose work is rooted in free improvisation and experimental music. Originally trained as a violinist, he transitioned to drums in the late 1990s and later studied jazz at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest. Beyond formal education, he developed his distinctive voice through collaborations with key figures of the hungarian and european improvised music scene. He has performed and recorded with a wide range of international artists including Peter Brötzmann, Rudi Mahall, Tobias Delius, Johannes Bauer, Ken Vandermark, Alexander von Schlippenbach, while maintaining long-standing creative partnerships with Hungarian musicians like István Grencsó, Szilárd Mezei, Máté Pozsár, Róbert Benkő, Akosh S., Tibor Szemző and others. He is a founding member of collectives such as AMP, Rezervatum Orchestra, and a regular contributor to projects led by István Grencsó and others. Since 2022, Miklós has been the drummer of Jü, a Budapest-based power-trio that blends free jazz, psychedelic rock, ambient soundscapes and folk rhythms into dynamic fusion. He has expanded his sonic palette and contributing to the group’s evolving, genre-defying identity, performing at international festivals. Miklós has also worked in interdisciplinary contexts, most notably in collaboration with acclaimed hungarian novelist László Krasznahorkai (Chasing Homer, 2019). His discography includes numerous releases on BMC Records, Hunnia Records, and independent platforms such as Prepost Records and Adyton.
